An Open Letter to the Scientific Community
(Published in New Scientist, May 22, 2004)
"The big bang today relies on a growing number of
hypothetical entities, things that we have never observed-- inflation, dark
matter and dark energy are the most prominent examples. Without them, there
would be a fatal contradiction between the observations made by astronomers
and the predictions of the big bang theory. In no other field of physics
would this continual recourse to new hypothetical objects be accepted as a
way of bridging the gap between theory and observation. It would, at the
least, raise serious questions about the validity of the underlying theory.

DSSU,
the Non-Expanding Universe:
Structure, Redshift, Distance
(A new interpretation of the
cosmic redshift and the distance it encodes)

The
universe has succeeded with a beautifully elegant trick.
It is eternally evolving yet forever remaining the same.
—Dr. Johan Masreliez
ABSTRACT: It is briefly shown how the two dynamics of
absolute space are responsible for the cellular structure of the
Universe. The two dynamics coded as the postulates of space expansion
and of space contraction within DSSU theory act together to shape
the giant Voronoi cells of our Universe in agreement with the well-known
observations of Estonian astronomers headed by Jaan Einasto. A universe
having expanding space within a more or less static cellular framework
necessitates a new relationship between the observed cosmic redshift
and the distance to the light source. The appropriate equation is
derived; then it is graphically compared with the Einstein-deSitter
expression with Omega (energy density parameter) that conforms to the
Supernovae Type 1A (SNe1A) distance data. Significantly the new formulation
achieves a long sought-after goal: removing the speed of light from the
equation. Without a c-term and without a Hubble term the new
cosmic-distance equation provides astounding agreement with SNe1A findings.

In the Dynamic Steady State Universe space expands
but the universe does not. Dynamic processes produce a
static polyhedral pattern. In this cellular cosmos galaxies drift
radially in regions that are strictly limited courtesy of a universe
that is in exquisite and perpetual balance —the quantity of space
expanding equals the quantity of space contracting. |

The truly remarkable finding of this paper is a formulation
of cosmic distance that requires neither the Hubble
constant nor the speed of light. The elimination of the
speed-of-light factor from the cosmic-distance equation has been a longtime
dream of Astrophysics. ...
And amazingly the new formulation agrees with the
"standard candles" of cosmic distance, the high-z supernovae favoured by
astronomers. Agreement with the supernovae measurements means, of course,
that the Crisis of 1998 is effectively
resolved. But note, the resolution of the Crisis comes about by
employing, of all things, a non-expanding universe! This is something
totally unexpected! ... This can only be described as revolutionary.
